Baconfest Chicago 2010
Bacon steps into the spotlight on April 10, as a slew of local chefs lines up to participate in Baconfest Chicago 2010, a showcase of bacon-cooking talent to take place at the Stan Mansion in Logan Square (2408 N. Kedzie). The event will be divided into two shifts — one from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and one from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. — each staffed with a dozen of Chicago’s most bacon-happy chefs. A bacon-vendor expo and a bacon bar and lounge will be in service all day.
Admission grants access to 12 diverse bacon courses, plus a gift bag and Baconfest Chicago’s “Guide to Bacon” souvenir program. The bacon expo will display a number of unique (and often amusing) bacon-themed items, including bacon lip balm, jewelry and cupcakes.
Participating chefs include Paul Fehribach (Big Jones), Giuseppe Tentori (BOKA), Dan Smith (Hearty), Jared Wentworth (Longman & Eagle), Randy Zweiban (Province), Michael McDonald (one sixtyblue), Chris Pandel (The Bristol), Jason McLeod (Balsan and Ria), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Jimmy Bannos Jr. (The Purple Pig) and Nathan Sears (sous chef of Vie).
Tickets cost $45 per person for either the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift or the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. shift. Guests wishing to attend both shifts must purchase separate tickets, which go on sale at noon on March 4 and are expected to sell quickly. For more information, visit http://ow.ly/1dhhw.
